Carrowmore 13 sits beside the road from Sligo, a few metres before the junction with the road to Ballysadare and just before you reach the Visitor Centre. It is a beautiful little dolmen with the capstone supported by 6 orthostats. The construction of the road from Sligo saw the destruction of the circle of kerb stones which once surrounded it while a subsequent car accident knocked part of the dolmen down. A rescue excavation of the tomb took place in 1998 and what you see now is the reconstructed site based on earlier photographs.
