In the early 2000s, Ukrainian schoolchild Artem Shulga during a walk with his father made a few photos of unusual large stones, folded clearly artificial method. Huge boulders of rounded shape lay one on the other, while the other, on the contrary, was in the right shape, mated in straight lines. Some boulders had obvious traces of processing and primitive drawings. The shape of the individual stones resembled the outlines of man and animals.

Next to the vertically installed blocks, there were flat stones with artificial cavities and gutters, reminiscent of altars.

The boy's father - an amateur archeologist and local historian, immediately realized that this unusual cluster of stones can be an artificial megalithic structure, the minimum age of which is several thousand years. After asking the locals, he found out that near these stones, ancient arrowheads and stone graters for grinding grain often were found.

Over time, the data of the object, which is located in the Volnovakha district of the Donetsk region, scientists are interested, and on the web it was christened Ukrainian or Donetsk Stonehenge.

Such an accumulation of processed stones is a unique phenomenon for this region, Professor Dmitry Belykh believes. Perhaps this is an ancient temple or observatory, or another multifunctional complex. In any case, additional, more thorough research is needed, but even now one can speak of the artificial origin of this structure.

As already mentioned, objects similar to Donetsk's Stonehenge are quite rare for southern latitudes, but they are found in large numbers in the north and in eastern Siberia. A large variety of megalithic structures is available in Karelia and the Kola Peninsula. In this regard, many researchers regard the steppes of Donetsk as the southern borders of the legendary Hyperborea.
