Бертекская писаница BERTEK PETROGLYPHS.

For centuries, the plateau Ukok - located in the southernmost part of the Altai Mountains, at the junction of the four borders - Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia, it was a crossroads of the worlds, both literally and figuratively. The plateau is located at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level, and probably therefore, one of the translations names Ukok - from Mongolian - sounds like the "Word of Heaven."

At the end of the last century on Ukok Bertekskoy in the valley on the rock Kyzyl-Tas was found and described a large group of petroglyphs, called Bertekskoy petroglyphs. This ancient petroglyphs found on the Ukok of which belong to the Stone Age. Pisanitsa represents the drawings almost all eras - from the Stone Age to the ethnographic present. It includes a variety of zoomorphic and anthropomorphic images, including pictures of bulls and horses, in the technique of pitting knockout.

Bertekskaya Pisanyza - a unique cluster of pictures, knocked on the rocks, a giant "pattern of life", immortalized in stone. On the rock is carved more than 120 characters, it is replete with scenes of hunting nomads images antlered deer, goats, camels, wolves and dogs.

Single style images allowed archaeologists to date the bulk of the picture early Scythian time. In the central part of the composition, which is often in other compositions decrypted as the axis, the center of the world, is a hunting scene - the image of a hunter shooting at a deer. It is possible that this story has affected the archetype of the Eurasian space hunting. "Siberian legend and Russian fairy tale about the" Stag - golden horns "Western European story" wild hunt "god of thunder god, accompanied by dogs, is reconstructed as a very ancient (dating back to ancient times more than the Bronze Age), the myth that the sun moves the sky on the horns of a miraculous deer chased by a god of the underworld, by the end of the day overtakes the deer, why is the sunset and the night "(Golan, 1993, p. 39). Semantically related to it and the scene of a predator attack (the wolf) for deer, placed to the right of the main body of images. In the mature period of the Pazyryk culture scene agony ungulate prey animals received a vivid development.

In addition, the ibex is endowed with special features to help a person achieve after death "pastures of heaven." Thus, one possible interpretation of the versions of this story - migrations to the heavenly pastures. Further study Bertekskoy petroglyphs probably will link the images and the riders with the inhabitants of heaven. It is known that in the pantheon of the Scythians took a special place female deities in one of the figures of horsemen guessed female image. In the lower zone dominated by the image of a deer drawings, allowing archaeologists to call it "deer". Deer freezes in the heyday of the Pazyryk art will become one of the favorite motifs.

Portrayal of the central part of petroglyphs.

In this part of the petroglyphs is a large part of the subject compositions: a hunting scene, the man leading the horses, the deer surrounded by wolves or dogs. According to the three-tier model of the world that is common to traditional and ancient cultures, this story can be related to the human world and the underworld forces of the earth, abundance daruyuschimi (literally embodied in the knocked-out herds of hoofed animals) and fertility, which indirectly confirms ierogamnaya scene.

The uniformity of the rock Kyzyl-Tas, the almost complete absence of the application of new drawings on old pictures, cut-scenes and a set of images make it possible to assume that the vast number of images has been applied on a rock in a short time interval. The only exceptions are the deer in the style of deer stones (with the triangle on the back) and drawing a goat in the ancient style.

Most likely, the story variety Bertekskoy petroglyphs due to the fact that the rock paintings of the plateau Ukok have combined the traditions of three regions: the Sayano-Altai, Central Asia and Central Asian. This determined the uniqueness of ethnic and cultural diversity of the early Scythian time.
